Family Promise Of Montco PA
(Formerly Inter-Faith Housing Alliance)
Family Promise is a national organization that works to address family homelessness and hunger. Gwynedd Meeting has worked with InterFaith Housing Alliance for over 30 years and will continue this partnership with Family Promise to serve local families and individuals in need. The health crisis of the last two years has only exacerbated the need to support families seeking food, shelter, and support in our communities. Volunteers willing to help are essential to the success of our efforts to help.
Below are 4 ways that you can get involved:
1) Food collection- ongoing drives are held to collect food and/or personal items for the food cupboard. Watch the email blast or the newsletter for a description of what is being collected each month.
2) Interfaith Hospitality Network- working with other local faith communities, this program provides emergency housing for families for a period of one month during the year. Many volunteers are needed to provide meals, transportation, laundry services, and other supports.
3) Hope Gardens- Gwynedd Meeting supports a family in one of the 8 apartments at Hope Gardens, a transitional housing complex in Ambler. Aside from the financial subsidy that Gwynedd contributes, occasional requests are made for household items or personal care items for the tenant, or volunteer help cleaning or refurbishing the apartment between residents.
4) Financial contributions to Family Promise are always welcome so that this agency can serve the underserved population in our area. Checks can be written to Gwynedd Meeting with Family Promise on the memo line.
